Here are the major features of this greenhouse.
Size and Detailing: There are five sizes of the Harmony to choose from, so just about any gardener will find a size that’s proper for their garden, allotment or yard. All are six feet wide, and the available lengths are four, six, eight, ten and a whopping 14 feet. Each greenhouse has a hinged door (which opens outward and locks against the wind), a roof vent which opens up (the 14 foot long model has two roof vents), and built-in gutters along both sides the roof. A nice extra feature on the gutters is a small fitting at the end of each gutter, which lets you attach hoses with jubilee clips to control where the excess water flows.
Frames and Base: The Palram Harmony’s frame is made from standard aluminum, available in either natural silver or a green power coating. The aluminum base plinth also comes in those two colours to match the frame, and attaches to the galvanized steel base which comes with the Harmony to give it stability and strength. The inside space is a little over four feet tall along the walls, and nearly seven feet in the middle – plenty of room in which to work.
Glazing: The only choice for the sides and roof of the Harmony is polycarbonate glazing, and while it isn’t a suitable choice for windy areas as we’ve mentioned, it has a lot of positives. It’s almost completely unbreakable, a real plus if you have children in the yard where the greenhouse is located. It’s just as clear as glass and blocks all UV rays to protect everything inside. And it makes the entire structure a snap to assemble and install; the glazing slides right into the aluminum frame in minutes, with no annoying glazing clips to deal with. And if you need to take down or move the greenhouse, it’s a simple and quick job.
Options: Palram doesn’t make as many options available for the Harmony as you’ll see offered by other manufacturers. The most useful is an autovent attachment which can open and close your roof vent to regulate the heat and air flow inside the structure. Another handy add-on is a shade kit which screws directly into the greenhouse walls and offers extra protection against the heat; the screws provide an extra function as plant hangers. Several one-tier and two-tier staging systems with drainage systems which match the colour of your greenhouse are also available, as are work benches, and drip irrigation and trellis kits.
Perhaps best suited to “weekend gardeners,” the Palram Harmony is a great starter greenhouse which looks good, goes up quickly, does its job well, and comes in a size which will fit any plot, allotment or garden. The prices are even more attractive than the greenhouses.
